Lilinoe at dockside, Yokosuka Navy Base, Japan...this
picture soon after purchasing her in March, 2002. |
|
Again, dock side. Gandara
is the boat in front of Lilinoe. Gandara is a 40' all aluminum boat which
I crewed Spring of '99 from Wake Island to Japan...Lilinoe was enroute
from Hawaii to Japan; one week ahead of Gandara. |
|
1st and 2nd mates on
Lilinoe. Tokyo Bay, Spring 2002. 2nd mate is hot
blooded...always in t-shirt and shorts! |
|
Over the bow of Lilinoe.
Note the island...this island is the one pictured in several Fuji Yacht
advertisements. It is Saura-shima (Monkey Island) and lies about a
mile off the Yokosuka shore... |
|
Pointed north in Tokyo Bay.
Normally, all hands are on deck. Traffic in/out of Tokyo-area ports
averages 300 ocean carriers per day -- not to mention the numerous fishing
vessels. All eyes are needed! |
|
Dockside at Yokohama
Bayside Marina. Perhaps the largest, most modern marinas in
Tokyo Bay. Comes with full, western-style shopping mall (can you say
Starbucks) and all kinds of boardwalk restaurants. |
|
Again, dockside at Bayside
Marina. Good view of Lilinoe topside...the blue "blobs"
hanging off the railing are wetsuit top/bottom. On this trip,
snagged a fishing line. 2nd mate was volunteered to suit up and take
care of it! |
|
Lilinoe stern view...as you can
see, have monitor steering system.
My first experience with it and it works as advertised! |
|
Bow-on view...next morning,
getting coffee and ready to head home. Our first family over-night
completed. |
|
Group shot of some boat owners at
a pot-luck. I'm furthest left, wearing blue shirt. |
